LPO Aquitaine Harrier Group
Suitable areas for nesting of Harriers in Aquitaine
Study areas are located north of Bordeaux (Gironde) .
Study Areas:
Area J: Blaye’s Marsh.
Area K: Marsh near Bordeaux.
Area L: Wet land and pine seeds.
Wetlands, fallows, wet grass-land and pine seeds are caracteristics to our department and quite visited by the three harrier species.
Unlike other departments, Gironde is not a cereal region and fortunately harrier nests are not destroyed by agricole engines during crops harvest.
Natural environnement as reed-grass, rush marsh, wet land meadows as well as pine seed in the wet grass-land, offer suitable nesting places to the three harrier species
Due to this year national new Montagu’s Harrier chicks ringing & tagging program, study areas have been increased to all Aquitaine :
Marie-Françoise Canevet : régional Manager
Taggers and Ringers only for 2008 Montagu’s Harrier chicks are; Jean-pierre Gans , Yannick Lenglet, Huguette Rodriguez.
loca support in:
Dordogne : Yannick Lenglet lengletyannick@orange.fr (tagger)
Lot-et-Garonne: Didier Cazabonne didier.cazabonne@tiscali.fr.
We are looking for a local support in the Landes dept.
