Suitable areas for nesting of Harriers in Aquitaine Study areas are located north of Bordeaux (Gironde) . Study Areas: Area J: Blaye’s Marsh. Area K: Marsh near Bordeaux. Area L: Wet land and pine seeds. Wetlands, fallows, wet grass-land and pine seeds are caracteristics to our department and quite visited by the three harrier species. Unlike other departments, Gironde is not a cereal region and fortunately harrier nests are not destroyed by agricole engines during crops harvest. Natural environnement as reed-grass, rush marsh, wet land meadows as well as pine seed in the wet grass-land, offer suitable nesting places to the three harrier species Due to this year national new Montagu’s Harrier chicks ringing & tagging program, study areas have been increased to all Aquitaine : Marie-Françoise Canevet : régional Manager Taggers and Ringers only for 2008 Montagu’s Harrier chicks are; Jean-pierre Gans , Yannick Lenglet, Huguette Rodriguez. loca support in: Dordogne : Yannick Lenglet lengletyannick@orange.fr (tagger) Lot-et-Garonne: Didier Cazabonne didier.cazabonne@tiscali.fr.
