Harrier Group gather actually around 20 people form the LPO Aquitaine. The number of people that are following Marsh, Montagu’s and Hen harriers since 1991 is increasing with time, mainly lately.
Our work is included in a national scientific study on the harriers in France launched by the "Museum d'Histoire Naturelle de Paris", coordinated by Harrier’s net (Groupe Etude et de Protection des Busards ) in a partnership with the Mission Rapaces . Chizé’s CNRS has helped to the Harrier’s net, mainly to ringers and taggers for those species that are under their scientific responsability.
Time spent on the field allow us to see the evolution of those great raptors with time, to improve our knowledge for each specie and to check the major problems they can afford to eventually protect the nest.
Field work needs a lot time and efforts to be repeated every year that it is integrated in a global national work that is gratefully rewarded by a new generation of young harriers flying

227 Marsh harrier ‘s chicken have been ringed & tagged.
147 Hen harrier’s chicken have been ringed of which 15 tagged, and also 6 adults have been ringed and tagged,
490 Montagu’s harrier’s chicken have been ringed of which 73 tagged in 2007; 89 adults were also ringed and tagged.
